If you are looking for a unique vacation abroad, then you must visit Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The city may be a bit different than it was before the 2010 earthquake, but with the people rebounding wonderfully this is still an awesome place to visit! Although a lot of the national monuments were lost, there are still many left. There are also tons of other things to do.
Be sure to visit Haiti’s wonderful natural attractions.  One of these attractions is Étang Saumâtre, a large saltwater lake with flamingos and crocodiles. Something I certainly don’t see at home!  If you are a shopper looking for unique items, items you won’t find in the “main” tourist shopping areas you will have to visit Marche de Fer. The products sold are geared more to the locals, so you will be sure to find something you can’t find at home.  You will find true food items local to the area and unique items for you to wear and to show off to your friends at home. For those of you interested in history, there are tons of museums to visit. Get a handle on the true history of the country, from art to everyday living. A visit to the Barbancourt Rum Distillery is a unique experience. You are shown around the warehouse and the plant. At the end the adults get to try every type of rum they produce, one word YUM!
If you are looking for good nightlife, then be sure to visit many of the hotels located there. There is fine dining and clubs. Be safe, stay near the main areas, for sure! If you are a foodie, then you will have to try some of the local restaurants. You will find local foods, Caribbean foods and even fine French dining. There is something for every taste and budget.
Enjoy your visit, but be sure to be safe! Watch what you are doing and be careful you will have an excellent time!
